David began his love affair with film as a 4th grader with his grandfather’s VHS camera. He would film stop-action animation of all his action figures, and even did the voiceovers. As a teenager, he fell in love with skateboarding. David was not nearly as good as his friends so he became the de facto cameraman for the local crew. It was on the cutting room floor (aka his childhood bedroom and VideoWave 5 on a Windows 98 PC) that David truly fell in love with the craft. Cutting skateboarding to his favorite music opened his eyes to the beauty of visuals in motion and sound. He was hooked, and still is to this day.

After graduating from Ryerson University in 2012, David relocated to Tokyo where he was based until 2020. It was in Tokyo where David became obsessed with lighting and came of age as a DP. Over the course of his time in Japan, David worked with directors such as Eric McEver, Tim Georgeson, Louis Bhose, and Joel Cruz, and with companies such as Google, Lexus, Mazda, Marriott, and a bunch more.

David enjoys shooting anything with a good story, but on most days you can find him shooting documentary, commercial, and narrative work. David approaches each project meticulously and with intention. Every shoot is unique in its requirements and David believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach. From larger shoots to one-man-band type of productions, David is comfortable in both large-scale productions and cinema verité style shoots with minimal crew.

David and his wife Betia moved back to Florida in 2020 during the pandemic with a baby. Since moving back David has been working with directors such as Ross Kauffman, Kim A. Snyder, Stephen Bailey, and Kevin Cate, and with companies such as Radical Media, Efran Films, Noah Media Group, Hundred Films, ESPN, Zinc Media, Siemens, and Mazda.

David takes years of international production experience back to Florida and the US where he works with trusted local crews wherever he goes. David is always up for travel and local productions alike. Please reach out any time via phone or email.
